Century Boats Becomes First Boat Manufacturer to Incorporate New Sileather™ Marine for Upholstery Across Entire Model Lineup

– new silicone upholstery fabric resists mold, mildew and replicates leather look and texture –

ZEPHYRHILLS, FLA. – Century Boats, a classic American boat company established in 1926 and based in Zephyrhills, Fla., today announced that it became the first boat manufacturer to incorporate Sileather™ Marine silicone leather fabric into its full production line for all upholstered pieces across all boat models.

As a 100-percent silicone material, Sileather is naturally weatherproof (waterproof, UV resistant, hydrolysis and salt water resistant), highly durable, and constantly maintains an exceptionally soft texture. Replicating the appearance and texture of natural leather for marine environment applications, Sileather is ideal for upholstery on boat interiors and exteriors.

“When we first experienced Sileather, we were most impressed with how closely the fabric resembled natural leather in appearance and texture,” said Bryan Lucius, president of Century Boats. “And when we learned of its performance capabilities in harsh marine environments, we immediately recognized its potential for application on our boats. In addition to its leather-like feel, there’s no need for sun-blocking or cleaning agents – you can even clean it with bleach. Sileather contains no plasticizers, helping to inhibit the bacteria growth that causes traditional marine vinyl to turn pink over time.”

Sileather fabrics are a new breed of high-performance outdoor fabrics using proprietary silicone coating with no treatments, finishes, or plasticizers. Its surface cools faster than Polyurethane (PU) or Polyvinylchloride (PVC) in the summer time heat, while remaining medical degree skin-friendly to bare skin. Sileather produces no off-gassing or odor and is bleach cleanable – users can even remove denim color transfer stains from any Sileather fabric.

“Sileather was able to serve Century through our common partner Premier Performance Interiors (PPI) based in Sarasota, Fla.,” said Matthew L. Smith, market development manager with Sileather. “As an existing marine industry customer of Sileather, PPI was comfortable recommending our products to Century – and today we’re proud to be a part of the entire 2019 Century model line.”

Century Boats is incorporating Sileather on all 2019 models for all upholstered pieces including helm seats, leaning posts, bow seats, chairbacks, bolsters, and more.

“We’re excited to introduce this new upholstery fabric to our customers on all 2019 models,” Lucius said. “Sileather on Century Boats is sure to deliver the luxury and reliability that our customers demand – for many years to come.”
